eMS wins sub.net contract for Transmission and Distribution substation monitors

eMS has won a three year framework agreement for the supply of Transmission and Distribution Substation Monitors to Northern Ireland Electricity, the network company. Over the next three years the sub.net monitoring units will be installed in transmission and distribution substations on the 275kV, 110kV, 33kV and 11kV networks and also renewable energy connections to provide a range of monitoring and analysis functions.

In addition to capturing, analysing and reporting on fault events and monitoring the quality of supply the sub.nets will provide vital information on the condition of critical substation assets, such as circuit breakers and batteries. Monitoring circuit breaker timing helps identify asset issues before they materialise into failures, which allows maintenance action to be taken thus preventing significant customer disruption.

The sub.nets are fitted with the GPS timing option, which offers very accurate time tagging of data values and also allows the systems to be used as Phasor Measurement Units.
